Cupcakes!!

Okay, so Mrd and I LOVE cupcakes and one of our absolute fave places to indulge ourselves is at Magnolia Bakery in the city (NYC that is).  Not only do they have delicious cupcakes, but they also make a sinfully good banana pudding - which btw, has become one of my few desserts I have mastered and perfected!

Just this past weekend as MrD and I were walking around a nearby downtown area and stopping for some Starbucks, we stumbled across this new bakery specializing in cupcakes just minutes from our house.  To our culinary delight the cupcakes are delicious!!!  We are so thrilled that now we can indulge ourselves a LOT more frequently.

Weekend Snapshots - Sunday Brunch

We had a nice Sunday brunch in the meatpacking district celebrating Mely's birthday.  The weather started off as a soaker, but by the time we finished feasting at Pastis, the sun came out and the day turned out to be a good one to be in the city.

Weekend Snapshots - Road trip to DC

We woke up last Wednesday morning with the impulsive idea to drive down to D.C. and visit MrD's cousin and her 2 adorable little girls, but first of course we had to check with our cousin since this was completely unplanned and unexpected.

Text messages went as follows:

me: hi! what r u doing this w/e? want visitors?

cuz: sure! just hanging with the 2 girls (her hubby is on the campaign trail and was in Minnesota gearing up for the big convention)

me: great! see u tomorrow!

We had family fun, history lessons, yummy food, and lots of exercise from all the walking.  What more could you want from a spontaneous road trip?!  Great way to round out the summer!
